Ferry booking
sorry, guys, i feel like this should not be complicated, but for some reason i can't figure out how to book the ferry from split to hvar and then from sucuraj to drvenik (which i decided to do based on previous posts -- thanks!). i can find the schedules/prices on jadrolinija, but no booking...? and everyone seems to warn to book ferries ahead, especially as we'll have a car.

drkate,
We’ll take the same ferry in Sept, and I don’t know how to pre-book them. I did not realize we need to do this in advance.
One thing to keep in mind though, since you mentioned you’ll have a car: the car ferry goes to Stari Grad, not to Hvar.
I think the ferry from Sucuraj is also a car ferry, but I’m not 100% sure. We will probably take the ferry back to Split and drive to Dubrovnik from there. Hope this helps a little.

drkate,
Last week I booked ferry tickets from Hvar to Dubrovnik for the end of September. When I emailed Jadrolinija with questions they responded with a booking company called Ocean24.
Ocean24 is based in Germany. I booked my tickets via their website (www.Ocean24.com). There is an English version of the website and very easy to navigate. I placed my order and received my tickets in the mail in less then a week...from Germany to South Carolina! I don't always get that kind of speedy mail delivery when mailing stuff in the US!

thank you so much for the tips. i did email jadrolinija and it turns out that you cannot reserve local ferries (such as split to hvar, or sucuraj to drvenik) ahead of time; just day-of at the port of departure. my hotel in hvar said it should not be a problem in may. i did find a way to book the ancona-split ferry ahead and really appreciated your help, especially the ocean 24 website. thanks!

i posted this in another forum as well... ocean24 is the BEST ticket outlet for americans... all the others charge a big fat charge for mailing. ocean 24 has no fee, and no mailing charge. also, they answered all my (many) email questions personally.
