I am looking to take ferries from Bodrum, Turkey to Rhodes and from Rhodes to Crete in late May or early June. How often do these ferries typically run and how long does it take to each island. Currently, the only ferry from Rhodes to Crete is a car ferry and its a 10 hour journey. In the past has there been a catamaran b/w these islands? If so, how long do they take.

Out of curiosity what would be the easiest way to get from Turkey to Chios or Lesvos as I might try to incorporate these two islands also. Thanks

Last August I took a hydrofoil from Rhodes to Bodrum. 50 euros one way. I think they ran every Tuesday and Friday in both directions. Took around 3 hours. But I don't know if they run in May/June. It was quite hard finding out about these in Rhodes because the travel agents denied their existence and directed me to the more frequent and popular Rhodes/Marmaris ferry.
I also took at ferry from Cesme (just down the road from Izmir) to Chios. This took less than one hours and seems to go twice a day, around 9am and 6pm. 25 euros I think.
No idea about Rhodes to Crete sorry.

Have you looked into plane service between Rhodes and Crete? I'm pretty sure that Aegean flies between Rhodes and Heraklion, Crete.

And if not Aegean, maybe SKYEXPRESS, although they have tiny planes!

From Bodrum, try Bodrum Express Lines (www.bodrumexpresslines.com); the website still shows 2007 services.
There are also services from Cesme to Hios, and from Ayvalik to Lesvos. All are small local operators.
From Rhodes to Crete, I don't think there has ever been a catamaran or any other fast craft. There are car ferries, but it is a long journey, and schedules are inconvenient: currently, the ship leaves Rodos at four in the morning.

Chios is a believe the closest Greek Island with regular ferries year around. Izmir to Cesme and the ferry will take you Chios. About 40 min to an hour depending on the sea and the vessel. Cesme is beautiful so is Chios. I loved the Argentikon estates 8 rooms with acres of orange groves and rose gardens. Very posh and exclusive. Great cuisine as well. If you have the budget this is the place to go and be in Chios. If you do so give my regards to George the G. Manager, I assure you that a complimentary bottle of Greek wine will be served right away after their mastik liqueur they offer at check-in.
