feedback on itinerary to france and switzerland
We are traveling with our 2 young children to France and Switzerland this summer to explore their wine and food….and would like to see if anyone can give us some feedback on the itinerary….We will be driving since we have small children. Has anyone driven from Laussanne to Avignon? How was the drive?
Thanks sooooo much for your help!
Arrive Paris and drive to Beaune
Day 1-4 Beaune and explore burgundy
Day 5-6 Lyon
Day 7-10 Laussanne
Day 11-13 Avignon and Arles
Day 14 take train back to Paris
Day 14-15 Paris

Why Lausanne? Consider Annecy after Lyon instead.

I have driven the route from Lausanne to Avignon several times - it is all motorway and easy to drive and not particularly scenic. Driving time will be about 4:30 hours.
As Michael has written, we are wondering why you want to drive to Lausanne. It is out of your way and not particularly attractive as a destination. If you want to get some mountain feeling, better drive a section of the Route des Grandes Alpes (e.g. Lyon - Annecy - Albertville - Val d'Isere/Col d'Iseran - Col du Mont Cenis - Susa - Briancon - Grenoble - Valence. You will see spectacular mountains, mountain lakes and picturesque towns.

In Arles, don't miss the incredible Musée de l'Arles antique with many roman treasures like this boat : http://www.arles-antique.cg13.fr/pop...ex.htm?lang=en
