Feasible Milan morning?
Our flight out of italy leaves Malpensa at noon. Do folks think it's possible to get to the Last Supper, thence to the train station, to the airport and make it. If feasible, is it simply NUTS?

We haven't picked a Milan hotel yet (only one night, issue is that we arrive Monday, when Santa maria del Grazie is closed. While we're at it, any recommendations? Obviously for one night, it should either be near the train station or designed around SOME activity.

As usual, thanks all!

Steve

Just did somethng similar so here goes.
1. The Malpensa express does not leave from the Main Station it leaves from Cadorna. This is good since Cadorna is about two blocks from Santa Maria del Grazie.
2. The last Supper was opening about 8:00 AM in June but it may open later in other months. I had to book the day before. It only takes about 15 minutes to see it but it is worth it.
3. The Malpensa express takes about 45 minutes. A cab will probably take longer and costs 70E. The Pallazzo della Stelline is directly across the street from Santa Maris del Grazie it is very nice and a great value. If you call them the folks at the desk speak English and are very knowledgable they are a bit aloof (Italian) but actually very helpful. It's 15-20 minutes walk or 10 E cab from the Duomo.
So if it opens at 9 AM or before and you are not real uptight about 2 hrs prior to the flight you can make it.

Try a google search for Palazzo delle Stelline or this one for more info:

http://www.holidaycityeurope.com/palazzo-milan/

Palazzo delle Stelline is placed in the building (or near it) that used to host a female orphanage that closed more or less one century ago.As a matter of facts female orphans used to be called "stelline" (little stars) in Milano. Palazzo delle Stelline also hosts art expositions and other cultural events. Directly opposite it (more or less) there is Palazzo Litta, one of the most impressive baroque buildings of Milano which also hiosts Teatro Litta, the oldest working theatre of Milano.
Also, nearby it could be worth visiting the Museo Archeologico of Milano: although the rooms look a bit old and polain, some of the things you can see are relly interesting: the museom has collections of Prehistoric, Roman, Greek, Etruscian and Indian objects. Admission is free. Do not miss the large stone at the entrance of the museum that is one of the oldest sculptured stomes that have ever been found in Italy.

It will not make any important difference. You will still have to be at the airport at least 1 hour in advance and you will still need at least 20 minutes ot get to Linate, so that the final difference is more or less 10 minutes, since the flight from Linate leaves half an hour before the other one from Malpensa.
