Favorite restaurants in Toledo?
Hello all. In Toledo, which restaurant would you select as having the most delicious traditional Spanish cuisine? And which restaurant would you select if you were peckish for dishes that lean towards the innovative.
Please take into consideration the following conditions:
1. The restaurant should be within or adjacent to the old city walls.
2. The top priority is to please the taste buds. Service, atmosphere, view are nice but far less important. Budget is not important.
Thanks for any feedback you can share.

I have begun to research this subject for a trip this spring. From what I have learned from various sources, Asador Adolfo is a reliable choice for high-end, somewhat innovative dining and a great wine cellar. I am also leaning toward one meal in the restaurant connected with the Hostal Cardenal, which is connected to Botin, a traditional meat eatery in Madrid. In my experience, the paradors are good bets for regional cuisine as well.

We always go to this unique, charming place.. cason de los lopez de toledo, calle silleria, 3.
i only have time for one or two meals, so we enjoy dinner or lunch here.
gorgeous building. i understand a physician from valencia bought/inherited the palace and restored it.
it is worth a visit just for coffee/ pre-dinner drink downstairs at their bar if you decide to dine elsewhere.

We absolutely loved Asador Adolfo. I believe I even wrote a review in the Fodors online guide! The food ranged from clasic Spanish to creative new Spanish, and the service was great too. It probably helped the service that we were there just before 8:00 P.M.; the place was just starting to fill up when we left at 10:00. It was fairly expensive but well worth the cost. It is very close to the cathedral, within the old city walls.

I just discovered an online forum that discusses (in Spanish) restaurants in Spain. In Toledo, the posters like Adolfo very much, as well as Locum, for innovative dishes. This site is interesting for anyone interested in Spanish wine, as well as food.
www.verema.com. Although the forums are in Spanish, there is also lots of information in English.

Thanks for your great tips. I'll be in Toledo next week and will keep Asador Adolfo & Cason de Los Lopez on my food radar.
Also, found the online site for GUIA CAMPSA ... just in case anyone else is searching for restaurants (and driving routes!) in Spain.

CP: Thank you a million times over for posting this link. I know their guides are popular in Spain; would like to hear opinions from those who have used their book. Is there any advantage in purchasing the book over using the web site?
