Valencia's Fallas
It is celebrated 15-19 of March. It's my favourite because the whole festival is held on the streets, the monuments (Fallas) are true art works, the bands playing music, the people in typical costumes, the streets filled with "churros and buñuelos" stalls...big fun !

Fallas is also my favourite
You have lot of things to see and do, and it's open party to everybody.
You have fallas sculptures on the streets to see, fantastic fireworks day and night, nice traditions as flower offering, parties everywhere.

In Santander, Cantabria (north coast) there's a Santiago Festival beginning about 10-days before the Apostle's Feast Day in Santiago (25 Jul). It follows the San Fermines (in Pamplona, Navarra).
It's just another Festival with daily bullfights, etc., but Santander is one of my favorite places in Spain or anywhere.

My favorite festival is not in Spain but in Portugal in the town of Amarante.
Sao Goncalo's feast days are the first weekend in June. During those two days unmarried men and women exchange bread in the shape of phalluses. As many of you know, the Portuguese are often morose and they seem to smile little or pay attention to the breads of all sizes that hang from stands as bands play on and families gather.
Amarante itself is so charming that it was often featured in TAP ads.

I've only seen the Fallas via the television but it sure looked fun. They also sell sausages cooked on a grill on the sidewalk. Miammmm!
For my fav, it would be the Feria de Sevilla. Although it's more private than public, it's great. Seven days/24 hrs per day of dancing, eating and more dancing. Lots of horses, carriages, and lovely girls in their flamenco dresses. How could it be better.

Thank everyone.
Kenderina & Vicor Fallas sounds great. & Thanks for the links.
Nedsireland we have not been to Cantabria yet and will check it our too thanks.
Auduchamp, now that's interesting bread! I have not been to Portugal yet and has just started lookigm at a place in Lisbon, the inn @ El Churrasco...know of it?
Revulgo thanks you are such a help always. Gracias.
Blackduff,
I am sad to say I have never been to Feria, the timing was never right & my DH is concerned about that the crowds & high priceses will be too much for a little group of friends. Not too long ago I posted questions specifically on Feria versus Semana Santa and I am still deliberating. Wr do not have unlimited time and narrowing down the areas is always a big deal because we love Spain & want to stay much longert han the 2 1/2 weeks we can allow.
Thanks all I will look at all of this info carefully!

Two years ago I happened to arrive at Santiago de Compostela the week prior to St. James feast ( which is celebrated July 25). Every night in the side plaza from the Cathedral they had Galician folkloric dances and show. It was delightful!
