Family ski trip to Switzerland
I am taking the family to Switzerland (10/12 year olds) and was wondering where the best winter "kid sports" area would be. Arriving in Zurich and then can move up to the mountains - looking for skiing but also kidstuff like skating, toboggans, tubeski, etc.

semiretired:
I liked the area of Villar for a very family oriented area/
Great variety of skiing for intermediates and what looked like a very large ski school for children. I did not see any skating or toboggans but I am sure it exists.
Quiet resort for adults, but I liked the "feel" of this resort.

Although expensive St Moritz has a lot to offer. For example:
Cricket on Ice
Horse racing on Snow (www.whiteturf.ch)
Ice Skating
Bobsleighing
Hangliding
Kitesaling
Sledding
Hiking
Cross country skiing
Helicopter sightseeing trips
The Cresta Run (kids may be too young I suspect)
Skiing of course
It is about a 3 hour drive from Zurich.

It is important to know WHEN you are going.
I agree that St. Moritz is top. I use to go to this area every winter.
However, there are other great places too. Engelberg, Grindelwald/Wengen, Klosters, Scuol to name but a few.
It depends on your requirements (Off piste skiing? Food? International or local atmosphere? etc.) and the month you are going.

BTW, I posted a trip report on my winter vacation 2003 in the St. Moritz area. You should be able to find it somewhere here (with link to photos).
