Family hotels in London

Does anyone know of affordable accomodations in London for a family of 5? We've booked several hotels in Italy for around 100 euros a night, but London accomodations appear to be twice that, at least. Help.

Well, London is VERY expenive and with 5, you will usually need two rooms. You might want to look into apartments/flats.

Our family of 4 stayed at the B&B Belgravia in December and really liked it! http://www.bb-belgravia.com/

They have family rooms starting at £105. I know the room holds 4, but if you ask, they may be able to accomodate 5. That rate also included a fabulous full breakfast, all taxes and VAT, as well as free internet access at the computer in the lobby.

Good luck!

Yeah, London has become outrageously expensive in the last few years. B&Bs will be a better choice than hotels. Perhaps vacation rentals will be better if you have a long enough stay. You can save some $ on laundry (if there is a washer included) and meals in this way. I have always stayed with families and friends and unfortunately don't have names of places to point out in particular.

For a family of 5 you definitely want to look into a flat. You will get a lot more space for less money than 2 hotel rooms. How long are you in London? Some require a 7 night stay but many have a 3 night minimum and some rent by the night.

There are many threads on here about apartment rentals in London.

London is incredibly expensive for accomodation. I think you will have to rethink your budget. Look at Scala House - you can rent a serviced apartment for a reasonable rate (by London standards). I stayed there and was very impressed with the staff. They were very helpful. At Scala House you can get a 2 bedroom apartment with 1 and 1/2 baths, full kithen including a dishwasher and a washer/dryer and a living room/dining room with tv. This can save a lot of money when you are with a family and there are a couple of good grocery stores close by. All supplies like dish soap and laundry soap are included in the kitchen. It's also nice to be able to have breakfast at "home" so to speak or snacks at night. web site is www.scala-house.co.uk
