Family accommodation in Paris and what to do with kids

Looking for cheap family accommodation in Paris for this summer - one week. Kids are 6 and 4yrs. Are there plenty of parks and are museums and art galleries free?

Hi Siobhain,

Your other thread has lots of advice on what to do with kids in Paris. Click on your name to see all your posts.

An apartment is best with kids. Search for paris apartments and you'll find a thread with lots of suggestions. Although it's getting pretty late for apartments for this summer and for inexpensive hotels.

There are lots of parks; I recommend the Jardin d'Acclimatation in the Bois du Boulogne (Metro: Sablons, Line 1), Luxemboug Gardens (Metro: Vavin, Line 4 or walk if you're close by as we were), and the Tuileries (Metre: Tuileries, Line 1).

Also highly second the suggestion to get an apartment; I can't imagine 2 adults, 2 kids in a hotel room for a week. Apartments give you so much more flexibility for meals and bedtimes as well as room to spread out a bit. We rented www.vrbo.com/58971; super location, reasonable, and would work well for two little kids and parents.

Most museums in Paris are free for children under 18 years old.

Enjoy your trip.

Here is a short list of the top ten Paris attractions. My daughter loved the Eiffel Tower, a boat ride down the Seine and the super playgrounds scattered around Paris.

Jardin d'Acclimatation
Cité de Science in La Vilette
Luxembourg Gardens
Tuileries
Parc St-Cloud
Arènes de Lutèce
Bâteaux Mouches
Batobus
Deyrolles

Paris is full of great places for young children. I'm sure your library has guidebooks that list them. Take the kid to the library with you.
