Evening tours of the Roman forums 2016
My latest edition of the newsletter from the civic museums of Rome [10% off entry to all of their museums on presentation of a print out of the newsletter] advertises what look like exciting evening tours of the Forums of Augustus and Caesar accompanied by illuminations and an audio guide:
http://www.viaggioneifori.it/en/
looks like it runs from April to the end of October.
Definitely something to bear in mind if you're going to Rome this year.

Thanks, Ann, for posting this. It's really a terrible website though. I've heard of night shows of the Imperial Forums, but I'm not sure if this is something different. The one I heard of was basically a sound and light show, apparently very well done. I've also heard of a night tour that included a walk around the area, starting at Piazza del Campidoglio and that included actors. I don't know if these are two different tours, and if they're the same as these two tours described on the Viaggio nei Fori site. None of the descriptions I've seen has been very clear about exactly what's included.
For example, this Viaggio nei Fori suggests that you get to enter the Imperial Forums, which would be very interesting, because normally they're off limits. However, it's not terribly clear to me. Do you know the exact details?
There are also, new this year, night visits to the Roman Forums, across the road from the Imperial Forums.

And, for the last several years, there have been night visits to the Colosseum.

Bummer, How did I miss the night tour of the colosseum when I was booking? Maybe I booked before they were advertised, but the underground tours were only available for a few times during our dates in late May several weeks ago, so I bought the tickets. Now the night tours seem so prominent on the website.
The idea of going at 8:30 in the evening sounds amazing. I hope someone will post and tell me what it is like.

Sorry bvl, I can't do better than the website. I started off reading the Italian but as that didn't seem very clear, I turned to the english, but was no more enlightened. Though at least I could comfort myself that it wasn't my Italian comprehension that was at fault!
I'm rather hoping that by starting this thread, someone who has done this will drop in and tell us more about it.
