London, Paris and Rome? Wow. Her loss, but great for you!

In Paris, try Hôtel Jeanne d'Arc.

http://www.parishotels.com/hotel_det...g=en&id=64

I've stayed there twice solo and LOVE the staff, the hotel, and the location. If not fully booked, the hotel has singles around Euro 65-80.

Have a wonderful trip.

I had a similar experience with an ex BFF TWICE.

I should have caught on after the first time but it took me awhile to catch on Unfortunately it was my credit card that had put the deposits down and I lost the money.

I can commisserate.

How many days were you planning on staying in Paris?
There are some great deals out there with vacation packages - 6 nights in Paris including hotel and air for about the price of the air alone. They also have combinations of London, Paris, Nice, Rome etc. And they let you delay your return air.

I think it's verboten to mention the travel agencies offering it - but you could google Paris Vacation Packages, or try to email me (dont know how that works on here)

Anyway Dwebb, you'll work it out - just forget about it, make your changes in plans, and look forward to the trip. There's no place I'd rather be than Paris in the Spring and Fall.

Okay..okay..pray for me.

I spoke to my "trial basis" BFF. She has agreed to help with the cost of Hotel Hospital Dieu in Paris. Of course I will get the money from her first. This will make my cost for Paris right in line with my budget.

Cross your fingers....and thanks thanks thanks for all your support.

Yes, I think I will have a glorious time!

You should try the Hotel du College in the Latin Quarter. I am staying in a single room for 89 euros per night. It was suggested to me by my friend who lives in Paris.

So what about that other hotel. It is only a room. If you are like me you will probably spend your nights in the gutter drunk on Vueve Clicquot anyway.

Bon chance,
Thin

Would you consider staying in a convent in Rome? Rates can be 50E, some higher. Check out the book Bed and Blessings Italy or the church of Santa Susanna for listings. Some convents have curfews if that's a concern.

dwebb - that's great news about the Hotel Hospital Dieu! Is this "trial basis" BFF a NEW person who's coming with you or the stinky BFF who suddenly realized she has a fear of flying and walking?

I don't know why you want to stay in Hotel Dieu so much, anyway, there are lots of hotels cheaper than that.

Someone please correct me if I am in error, but I believe that Europe is much more accomodating to single travelers and will often charge one a single rate in a room that could accomodate two. It is certainly worth an email or phoning. In Paris I would not hesitate to stay at Hotel Riviera in the 17th alone. I think it is about 60 euros. Search for Travelnut, she is an expert on Paris accomodations. Rome- I would do a convent room. As you have heard before, you are better off traveling without this BFF!!!!

A lot of hotels post rates for double rooms with single occupancy, but they're not always that much cheaper than the full double price. I'm assuming the OP already contacted the Hotel Hospital Dieu about switching from a double to a single, but it was too late?

Btw, if the OP has her heart set on staying at the HHD and she can swing it, she should do it! It's worth it to pay a bit more to stay someplace you've always wanted to stay.

Yes, but are they next door to Notre Dame? Can you see the spires of N.D. from your window? See the clouds and the moon while lying in a clean, comfortable bed?

However, as much as I love the HHD, I wouldn't spend a lot more for it. A couple of years ago a single was less than 100 euros and the exchange rate was considerably better.

If the BFF comes through with some help go for it but otherwise I'd look for something else and there are decent hotels with lower rates.
