Europe Trip

Below is a list of cities I would like to tour with my friends the summer after we graduate from college. Of course, we'd like to do the trip very cheaply, but we're not in a rush. This is a group of fresh college grads- we don't need five stars
My main questions are:
-what order is the most efficient way to see these cities
-how long should we spend in each city
-what mode of transportation should we use to get from one city to they next (considering cost and how long it will take)
-the cities are: Dublin, London, Amsterdam, Paris, somewhere in spain, and one city in Italy
-thus the last question is which city in spain and which city in italy would a group of college grads looking for fun and great sights prefer?
THANKS!!!!!!!!!

Barcelona in Spain and Rome in Italy. The order you gave might be the best, flying into Dublin and returning from Rome. Look for cheap flights between Barcelona and Italy:

6 weeks... 1 week each city (do you have that much time/money available?)

You'll need a combination of flights and trains to do the places you mention.

Much of the cost comes in transportation so if funds are short you could save by cutting a couple cities and staying longer in the ones you do visit.

A couple of sources i usually refer folks to who are relatively in the dark about trip planning and mode of travel, etc.
www.ricksteves.com - for lots on rail travel, passes, buses, cheap flights and www.budgeteuropetravel.com to get the free and excellent European Planning & Rail Guide that is a great primer for understanding the rail system, with rail maps and itinerary planner for each country and also non rail stuff like packing. But Fodorites are the very best i've seen - ask more specific questions no many how arcane and you'll get expert answers.
