Europe in last week of August

Hi,
I'm trying to plan a vacation for 2 adults to Europe in the last week of August. We have a week off and we can't figure out where to go. Could you awesome world travellers give us any ideas? We're up for anything except lots of hiking. Thanks so much!

Do you want to avoid crowds and heat, or does it not matter? Would you prefer urban or pretty scenery?

If you have absolutely no existing thoughts then go to a nearby library (or bookstore) and get a few books with lots of pictures. DK Eyewitness books are good.

Plan on flying into one city and out of another, unless you are using frequent flyer miles to subsidize your airafre costs.

Now collect your thoughts about what interests you: Museums, history, churches, nature, mountains, beaches, trains, Sports cars, golfing, gourmet dinners, architecture.

What whether are you used to? August can/could be hot.

Molvania. It is still relatively undiscovered.

How about a nice lake somewhere? Maybe Switzerland or France?

For cities, how about Paris or Venice?

Thanks for the replies so far. I should have been more specific. We'd prefer something cooler (<80) and more urban.

What about Scandinavia: a combination or gorgeous countryside scenery and lovely larger cities?
