Euro Quiz #171 - Rosa Parks House?

One question this time - Rosa Parks - civil rights icon for refusing to give up her seat to a white person down in Alabama (?) - moved to Detroit soon after and bought a house. The dilapidated hourse -one of many in Detroit - was scheduled to be demolished and someone bought it and moved it to Europe.

Q- where can you see Rosa Parks house - left in its derelict state - in Europe?

right on. Weird to me but it's a hit in Berlin and for some reason a dud in Detroit where it seems that someone could have made it a Parks and Civil Rights Memorial.

In Berlin it is in the midst of high-rise flats. and left untouched in its derelict state.

No one wanted it in the US. Which says a lot about the US I think.
The aim is to return it when somebody finds a place for it I think.
Meanwhile it is a statement, and an art installation, and won't be allowed to deteriorate further.

Yes I grew up in Detroit area and Rosa Parks was always an icon - can't believe her residence was not a shrine by now - in Detroit not Berlin. As hetismij says maybe it will come back some day. As now it stands in Berlin as a testament not only to racism but the stark decay of Detroit - peppered by houses in worse shape than that.

I would look at saving the bus Rosa Parks was on when she refused to give up her seat rather then a house she happened to live in for a while, but none-the-less, just remembering Rosa Parks is far more important.
