Enjoy Rome and Odyssey Bus Tours
I would like to take bus tours to Pompeii and Capri/Sorrento. I will be by myself, so going by train on my own is out for me. So far, I like the Naples/Pompeii/Sorrento tour from Enjoy Rome and the Naples/Capri/Sorrento trip from Odyssey Tours. Has anyone ever taken either trips? If so, what did you like most/least about the tour? Can I reserve these trips while I'm in Rome? I don't mind taking both trips even if I end up seeing the same things in Naples and Sorrento. Also, when these companies say that they can pick you up from the Hotel, do they usually mean just that, or does it mean they will pick you up from a central location? I will be staying in a hotel right by the Spanish Steps.
Any advice will greatly be appreciated!

Laura

Hi, Laura. Two things. First, I haven't taken either of those tours, but I have done a walking tour with Enjoy Rome which I enjoyed. Second, I believe that Enjoy Rome's bus tours are actually VAS tours. If you don't get any responses to this post you might want to repost asking about that company.

we took the very Enjoy Rome tour that you are talking about 2 years ago. The Pompeii part was fine, good guide, etc. i had been to Pompeii before so i did have something to compare it to. the naples part of our tour was cancelled due to a bus strike -- all the bus drivers had pulled their busses into major intersections and parked them, thereby blocking traffic. Sorrento was a very brief stop, centering around a factory producing wood inlays. oh, we stopped for lunch on the way down and "toured" a coral factory. Enjoy Rome was easy to find - we walked there from our hotel and made arrangements on the spot. we were pleased with our day. based on my previous trip, i would spend a night in Sorrento and include a day trip to Capri if at all possible; we just didn't have time. sigh.

Thanks Vita and Lori,

Lori, too bad the Sorrento stop is so short I heard it's lovely there. I thought that maybe I could sneak a peak at the town while the rest are in the wood factory. For the panoramic drives, did you get many photo opportunities along the way, maybe in Sorrento?
Thanks!

p.s. - I don't know who made all those "Top" postings, I only made the first one. I hope noone was annoyed by that.

Laura - That is exactly what we did -- skipped the factory tour and wandered down to the waterfront which was (of course) charming, as Sorrento is wont to be. Again, if you can fit in an overnight in Sorrento and a daytrip to Capri, its worth it, but so is Pompeii. Have a blast!
