Does anyone have a list of web sites for reasonably priced B&B's and farmhouse accommodations in England and Scotland?
I have tried the usual sources such as the official webs for Bath, York, and Edinburgh but they only list the 3 and 4 star more expensive places that rival London for prices.
I have also checked Fodors, Lonely Planet etc; lots of individual recommendations but no web sites were found.
I usually stop at the local tourist information (TI's) in each town but I would like to arrange my lodging in advance for the major cities if possible. I know I can reserve ahead for the next stop from the TI's but I would prefer to make my reservations from home in San Diego before I depart.
If I arrive in a village late after a TI is closed it is a problem finding a place to stay.

Try www.visitbritain.com. Under accomodations, you can specify a region or town and usually get lots of hits. You can sort by price or rating if you like.

If you go to http://www.edinburgh.org/ and click on Accommodation, you can specify the type of accommodation (Bed & Breakfast), location and number of stars you are looking for as well as a price. Quite a few came up when I did a search and many of them have websites.

Also, check out http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/index.html, click on the site map and click on guest houses and B&B's.
