Emly, Co. Tipperary, Ireland

Does anyone have any experience with or arround Emly, Tipperary, Ireland? My father’s family emigrated from there in the late 1800s and I am looking to go back with my family this June. By all accounts, it is a small town. Does anyone have any experience with places to stay, eat or learn about the history of the town?

Thanks

Here's the closest thing to a town website:

http://www.emly.ie/parish/

Here's a link to a KEY research tool - Griffiths Valuation of Ireland - for Emly, County Tipperary:

No recs for accommodation, but you can search here:

http://www.irishbeds.com/book/tipperary.html

And, If you have about $1 Million (US), you can even buy a piece of Emly -- a local pub and shop!

Actually, I'm including the link for the attatched photo and map:

This should get you started --

If its that small there may not be a place to stay in the town. Remember small villages can just be a few houses and a shop and pub so accommodation is not a business that may be sustainable. I have never heard of the place but I have family N. East slightly in Oola. Are you making your whole holiday in Emly?

Isn't Oola in County Limerick? I know it's only 5-miles from Tipperary town. I have family in nearby Croom and more relatives further West (NewcastleWest). I met two young ladies from Oola when I was touring West Clare during the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival a few years ago. Your mention of Oola was the first time I heard of anyone who knew where it was, roughly.
