EGG FOLK ART

Is it true that any egg folk art
is confiscated by European customs due to the bird flu?

Has anyone brought back painted egg ornaments this year?

All input is appreciated.

Thanks!

I brought back painted eggs from Vienna. I hand carried them thru customs and security with no problems.

HI B,

Are you bringing your painted eggs into Europe?

If not, your concern is US Customs.

No but I'm still using the painted eggs I bought in Prague in 1999!

yes, I've brought some from Prague and Krakow, but they weren't real - they were wooden eggs.

Hi Ira,

I am planning to buy real painted eggs not wooden ones. I was doing a
class on wendish eggs and one of the ladies told me that she tried sending eggs by mail from Germany and couldn't.
The ones in her luggage, she had
to leave in Germany with friends.
They told her that it was becouse of bird flu.

A couple of years back someone brought me an ostrich egg back and had no problems.

I was wondering what kind of experiences other fodorites were having.

Thanks to all who responded.
