Edinburgh shopping?

My brother but like to buy a nice shawl or couch throw, and possibly a tweed hat, while here in Edinburgh. We were sorry to see Jenner's shuttered. Any idea, ideally off the tourist track, where he could buy such a thing?

Don’t know where to purchase but what not to do after purchase:

Years ago, we stopped at the Holyrood Palace cafe for coffee and noticed a stunning woolen scarf on the back of a chair. It looked so brand new and as I took it to the counter, I could only hope the owner would realize where she left it. It really was gorgeous, the softest blue and felt like cashmere.

Our apartment is up the street from Hollywood, so he might need to search among the shops on the Royal Mile. I've just come from the National Portrait Gallery, so I'm thinking maybe George Street?
