Hi
here are a couple of links with customer reviews, no photos

I loved it.
Decor is understated, nothing "ye olde", modern but not stark colors or furnishings.

Service excellent, even at the busy pre-theatre time. I was dining alone the first time, I was given a large table and wonderful attention.

Food has some inventive dishes. "Fish and Chips" is on the menu (at least it was) but it was not entirely traditional and would never be rolled up in a newspaper. It was completely greaseless, fish light as a feather.

wonderful desserts as well, and wines available by the glass.

I've only eaten there once, after hearing so many raves about it. Maybe I was expecting something special or had too high expectations. The meal was very good -- but nothing particularly outstanding. The service was polished and professional. The atmosphere is fine -- again nothing outstanding. To be honest, I considered it a rather typical dining experience in a very nice restaurant. But I haven't been pressed to go back for any reason -- I've enjoyed many other places in London more.

We had dinner at the Ivy several weeks ago after reading reviews here at Fodors. Agree with Patrick- very good but the meal was not outstanding. I would recommend it but don't set your expectation level too high.

Thanks elaine for the information and the websites. We have reservations to eat at The Ivy next month and we're looking forward to it. (On our last trip to London the concierge could not get us reservations six weeks in advance.) We'll try the fish and chips at your suggestion. We know it may not be the best meal we've ever had but we can't wait to see what the hoopla is all about. I think if there are any celebs there, I won't know who they are from British TV or films.
