I have a very early flight home to NY from Munich (715 am). If I arrive at the airport at 5 am, will that give us enough time to check in and go through security? I have a rental car. Should I return it in the morning, I believe with keys in safe box or return it the evening before and take a taxi from a very local , near the airport, hotel?

The website for Munich airport says to be there at least 2 hrs before: https://www.munich-airport.com/flights-240142#c2cceccd (look at waiting times). I am a worrywort (sp?), I would probably hand in the car the evening before and take a taxi or airport shuttle from an airport hotel. That 2 hrs will be taken up with mucking around with test results, checking in luggage, finding and walking to the gate.
