Dusseldorf/world cup

we are a family of 4 including children of 15 & 13 years old. On 6 July will arriving in the evening from Bahrain, through Dubai by Emirates airlines. Will be staying for 4 nights at Gunnewig Hotel Esplanade. On Sunday 10 July will be staying for 4 nights in Cologne......etc., I have promised my 13 years old son that we will be able to watch world cup in Dusseldorf on 8 and 9 July. Probably there will be plenty of open parks or beer gardens .....etc., where we can watch the world cup. Can anyone from Dusseldorf confirm this availability and whether or not it is easy to attend world cup viewing. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi,
there are no problems. Of course every pub or bar has a TV, especially in the "Altstadt". Or you go to the "Rheinuferpromenade" where are the big screens for public viewing.
Have fun!

Are you talking about the FIFA U-20 World Cup?

If you are, I just want you to know that July 9 and 10th are rest days after the group stage is finished so you will only be able to catch couple of matches on 8 July:

Canada vs Congo (I believe it will be midnight in Germany for this match)
and
Chile vs Austria (at 2 am on the 9th in Germany)
New Zealand vs Mexico (9 pm)
Portugal vs Gambia (11 pm)

Travelgirl2. We have stayed at the Hyatt Regency Koln.
We took 2 rooms each about 150 Euro without breakfast and paid at booking with some restriction for cancellation of 50 Euro. Today their web www.hyatt.com or www.cologne.hyatt.com for July is 170 Euro for one adult + child or 190 with breakfast which i think is better deal to choose with breakfast. This rate with one day cancellation without penality.
I do recommend this hotel. This hotel is with AC and from what i saw during my trip to Cologne this is the best with good location on the river with beer garden in front of the hotel and the river. Good luck. Ahmed
