Dubrovnik Accomodation

Taking our first trip to Dubrovnik in late September and am uncertain about where to stay: in old town or not. I have narrowed the choices to Hotel Imperial or Villa Argentina as the "out of old town" candidates and a nice apartment in town right on the harbor. We will be there for four or five nights and plan to take boat excursions to outlying islands a few days and also just explore the city. But I don't know if we should stay in the Old Town where the comfort of the accomodation is not as nice, but the location is convenient. I also don't know if we will want to spend all our time in the old town or not. How much of a hassel is it to get from the old town to the villa argentina or the imperial? We like comfortable places, and nice views, but don't want to be on the outskirts always walking/taking taxis. Budget isn't an issue we just want it to be nice.

Thanks

If you are looking for a nice, convenient, comfortable place on a great location and a nice view check the vacation suite Kashe.

We stayed at the Villa dubrovnik about twice as far from the gates as Villa Argentina and found the walk easy. I'd guess Villa Argentina is less than 10 minutes walk from the gates. The views back to the town are fabulous and well worth the little extra walking distance--and I'm 60 with two knee replacements.

Villa Argentina is a great hotel and you can walk into town in 5-10 minutes, flat walk (no steep inclines). The views out over Dubrovnik (and the water) from the terrace where breakfast is served is a magnificent way to start the day.

Here's the web site for Villa Argentina: <http://www.gva.hr/home.htm>

We will not be staying there until June, so I can't give you any first hand experience with the property. But reviews/opinions have been very positive, and it looks gorgeous!
