Dublin to Wexford train/bus.. is this correct??

I am looking for advice on whether to take the intercity train or the bus service from Dublin to Wexford.

I am looking at the timetables and it says the train ride is 2 hours, 41 minutes. (13:25 - 16:06) while the bus takes the same amount of time (12:30 - 15:10). Is this correct? I couldn't believe a bus would travel as fast as a train, including stops.

Which do you recommend? The costs are within 5 dollars of each other, so price is not an issue. Thanks!

hi
from the website ( irishrail.ie) you have to get off trainat Wicklow and then take a bus from here to Arklow ( so you have to gt a bus part of the way anyhow.... there must be railway works going on..Welcome to Irelands Travel System !!!Train is usually better option and quicker but prob not in this case..I think Id get the bus

oh ok.... where on the website did you find that information? I forgot to mention that the date of travel is August 13th, and when I put in Dublin to Wexford on that date, it lists the stops at Wicklow and Arklow but each is only 1 or 2 minutes, and it says no changes.

The Irish railways don't have any high-speed lines, so there may not be much difference in journey times. I prefer the trains as they're more comfortable and have a bar and/or restaurant car. The line from Wexford to Dublin follows the coast for much of the way.
