Driving to Nice, day trip advice?

We'll be staying in St Paul de Vence and would like a day trip to Nice. What is the best route, area to park near old Nice? Anyone ever do the tourist train? Did you like it? Also what are your lunch suggestions?

Leave St.-Paul-de-Vence and turn left to go down the hill; then follow the signs to Cagnes-sur-Mer and from there to Nice. After you've gone along the Blv. des Anglais for several miles look for signs on the left saying Cours Saléya and/or Vieux Nice. Follow the signs until you come to the Cours Saléya and the large underground parking lot. Take the elevator to the top level, turn right or left, and you'll be facing the narrow streets of Vieux Nice.

For lunch we like l'Ecurie, up at the top of the old town by the stairs.

Still not quite right--when you leave the elevator, the main area of Vieux Nice is behind you. To your right will be the market, which sometimes extends all the way down on the left as well.
