Driving from Rome to Florence

In order to avoid the extra expence of turning the rental car in a different location, we will be driving from Rome to Florence. Does anyone know how long it takes? Also, is there a "Mapquest" for Europe or more specifically Italy? Thanks for any help.

The "mapquest" websites for Europe are www.viamichelin.com or www.mappy.com

Plenty of people are going to question why you are planning to drive from Rome to Florence, when the train is faster (about 90 minutes), and so much easier.

Best wishes,

Rex

There are about 300 kilometers from Rome to Florence. You need to drive along the A1 highway, northbound. It takes about 2-2 hrs to connect, but then you must count the time spent to reach the point IN the city.

I'd say 3 hours, at least.
