Driving from Prague to Munich
I am trying to find some information about driving from Prague to Munich and either going through Cesky Krumlov or Karlovy Vary, but am not am to find anything. Does anyone know if either route is better to take, what the mileage is and approximately how long the drive would be to Munich assuming the one town is the only major stop we make?
I looked at train options as well, but it seems that from either town the train would go back to Prague and then to Munich. Are there other options I am missing?
Thanks!

You can check the route from Cesky Krumlov to Munich on www.viamichelin.com Driving time was 3 hours and 38 minutes.
Checking raileurope it looks like there is a train from Cesky Krumlov to Linz and Linz to Salzburg and Salzburg to Munich but takes a long time.

Train connections between Cesky Krumlov and Munich are indeed poor, but they're ok from Karlovy Vary to Munich IMO. Check www.bahn.de!
E.g. the 10.50 am connection takes 4.49 h and goes through Cheb, Marktredwitz, Nuremberg. You wouldn't save much time with driving - and have you considered the drop-off fee in a different country?
The drive is not particularly scenic like in the Alps e.g., but quite ok.

Thanks to both of you for the information. I didnt realize there was a fee to drop a car in a different country than where you picked it up, but should have known because I get hit with that fee a lot for my work travels. I did just learn that my comapny of choice (Hertz) doesnt even rent cars in CR, so there goes my "points" rental.
There will be 4 of us and I'm not really keen on 5 hours in a train, so I will have to weigh the rental costs against everything else and decide.
Thanks again! I will use that Michelin site as we may drive through the Alps from Munich also.

the trip via Cesky Krumlov is the longest, about 480 km whereas Karlovy Vary is mores direct about 450 km. As there are 4 of you it could be more interesting for you to have a car and driver take you, the KV route, depending on how long you would want to stay there would be about CZK 8900, about USD 600 at todays rate.
