Driving from Hallstatt to Vienna
Everyone on this forum has been so helpful in the past with their suggestions. Perhaps someone can help me with this question.
In a few weeks I will be driving from Hallstatt, Austria, to Vienna. Michelin suggested the Autobahn via Leoben, Bruck an der Mer and Wiener Neustadt; however, if I have time I'd like to take in as much scenery along the way so I was considering one of the following detours off the Autobahn:
Liezen-Gesauese Gorge to Hieflau- back to Autobahn at Leoben
Liezen-Hieflau-Mariazell-back to Autobahn at Bruck a/d Mer
Leave autobahn near Semmering and drive through Hoellental
Any suggestions?
By the way, I don't want to go through the Danube Valley because I will be going through there on the return trip from Vienna back to Salzburg.
Any comments would be appreciated.
