Hi Christie --

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but there is also a little pizza place at the base of the Accademia bridge with one heckuva view of Santa Maria della Salute.

there are many little nooks where you can sit directly on the grand canal in almost total privacy and enjoy a bottle of prosecco.

we had one very close to our hotel...it was at the end of a very quiet residential street and had a small dock. spent every evening before dinner there. much better atmosphere than most of the canalside drinking options IMO.

So sorry, but I can't remember the name. It's just at the base of the bridge on the Dorsoduro side, though. Very easy to find! The pizza was perfectly fine (and cheap).
