The website notes that automatic cars (only) have a deductible/excess, but none of the descriptions indicated whether the car was automatic or manual. Am I to assume that unless otherwise specified, the rental will be manual? (Which is fine...The car we are thinking about is a Citroen C2 3 door.)
Also, am I right that doyouspain works like in the US where you don't have to give a credit card number with the reservation?

The C2 will probably be manual, but call them to verify. If you take the rental agency's insurance, you probably have a deductible unless it is clearly specified to the contrary. If you want your credit card to carry the insurance with no deductible, you must decline insurance coverage (liability is automatically included anyway). Are doyouspain's rate that much lower than Autoeurope's or Kemwel's?

The C2 is a manual, too small to be an automatic. I'm not aware of any rental company that will allow you to rent a car without a credit card, even in the States, unless it's some fly-by rental agency.

If you are from the States, then you can use your Visa, MasterCard or Amex card to decline the CDW. Your credit card does not offer a zero deductible, but Amex does have an insurance program to cover everything at a very reasonable rate.

Doyouspain sound great, but if its too good to be true it usually is.

Doyouspain isn't paid for at the time of reservation, but at the time of picking up the car. You don't therefore have to put up a credit card on the net to reserve.

They are a car rental broker and when you book they point you towards the rental desk of the hirer concerned. Cars in Europe tend to be manual unless it says "automatic". I've used doyouspain on a number of occasions BUT...they usually operate on a full to empty fuel basis and charge for a full tank at time of rental. If you're hiring for a period that means you won't use a full tank, then it can work out more expensive.

So you may well be paying for a tank of fuel that somebody else, not the rental company, bought. Their rates are cheaper, but be careful on the fuel front.

You can check with Visa & MasterCard, but no, they do not offer a zero deductable when using the cards, not even for the Premium/Signature cards, when traveling abroad. At home they will reimburse you for the deductible portion of your personal automobile insurance if you have an accident.

There is generally a $250 deductible when using the cards, but you can purchase a zero deductible policy from the rental agency at a steep premium if you like, but it negates the coverage from your Visa or MasterCard.

Yep I can confirm a C" is only available with a manual 'box. Usually hire Automatics (at least in Spian) are the larger more up market cars. To give you an example some friends of mine need autos when visiting here. They have anything ranging from a Citroen C4 right through to Mercedes and Audi. The former they have had only once out of about 20 visits. (They have a small cottage here used for vacations so they are here several times a year).
Normally you hire an automatic which is in a different hire class to other cars. Because the auto transmission cars are usually large they can be quite expensive to hire.
