Douro River

There are several organized tours of wineries on the Douro River. I have a party of six family members and I would like to organize my own tour using a local reliable and knowledgeable driver from Porto. Does anyone have any contacts or ideas how I may accomplish this? We plan to be there in September 2022

We did a one day tour from Porto that visited three wineries and had lunch at one of them. We booked it through winerist.com but it was actually operated by this company which does private tours that sound like would meet your needs. It was quite enjoyable and I'd recommend them. .

Thank you. What I was looking for is someone private that I can organize a tour with where I have complete control.

I appreciate this contact.

If you just need a van and driver, you can get a quote from Anetours.

https://anetours.pt/transfers/premium-transfers/

They will need to know your basic itinerary to make a quote. If the driver needs to be fluent in English, make that known too.

I did 4 Winery Tours ad I think that is plenty.

The ones I liked best are:

Mateus Winery

Quinta de Aveleda

Quinta de Avessada

Quinta de Seixo

View from south bank of Duoro River up to Quinta do Seixo between Pinhao Village and Regua town.

This is the Mateus Palace with Chapel on left (Constructed 1739-1743). If you have every seen a bottle of Mateus Wine , this exact picture is on their bottle. It is nice to take the picture from across the pond.

Gorgeous tightly trimmed hedges at Mateus Gardens.

Wine barrels at Quinta da Avessada. They have a nice dinner here and they welcome you with a very bouncy song and music as you arrive. Very nice.!!!

The Manor House of Quinta da Aveleda with The 4 Ladies Fountain in front. This is probably the nicest of the ones I visited.

Swiss Chalet Thatched Houses for Geese at Quinta Aveleda
