Dorking Hotel

Hello,

We are looking for a hotel in or around Dorking, UK for next April. We will be there for a wedding and plan to spend at least five nights in the area.

I would like to find a place that has a fitness centre and ideally a room with a king bed (queen is an option, double or two singles would be a nightmare!). My husband is an ex-pro football player and not a small human. I would also like to keep the price of the room per night under $200 CAD ($150 USD OR £125 GBP).

Hoping someone on here will have some suggestions!

Thank you

seriously, have you looked at TA? booking.com? you can filter out or in most of what you want.

anyway, I used googlemaps and after discarding the Mercure at Box Hill [no gym] I found this one:

http://www.wottonhousedorkingsurrey..../leisure-club/

and probably closer to what you want, though further away from Dorking;

http://www.brooklandshotelsurrey.com...s/deluxe-rooms

you would need to contact them directly [and any hotel I think] to see if they have beds which are big enough.

Good luck!

Weybridge is too far from Dorking, I would not suggest the Brooklands Hotel for this purpose unless the OP has a car.

Perhaps the Op needs to respond and address the "car" issue.

The husband size? Is it length or I suspect girth?

As for beds note that what we call queen in the US is called king in europe. Have only ever seen a couple of real king size beds in europe and they were in ultra luxury 5* palace style hotels.

Odin - I can't imagine anyone staying in or around Dorking trying to get around for 4-5 days without a car.

given the lack of suitable options in the immediate area, a 30 minute drive for a wedding for one day of their stay doesn't seem to me to be unreasonable.

Possibly the Hilton at Gatwick has proper kingsize beds but I'm not sure I'd want to spend 4-5 days staying there. [i've checked and yes they do have king sizes.]

Main problem for husband is his height, his feet tend to dangle off of twin and double beds.

Yes we will have a rental car.

And yes, we have looked at Trip Advisor. Unless the beds in the "double" rooms at Wotton House are queen or king sized, that option isn't really what we are looking for. I also don't think you can filter for bed sizes on TA? Just thought someone here might have some useful insight, such as knowing Weybridge would be too far unless we had a car.

Seems like I will be making a few international calls to ask about the bed sizes and amenities
