Doonbeg or Dromoland for golf?

We will be in Ireland later this month and my husband has the chance to play either Greg Norman's Doonbeg course or the one at Dromoland Castle where we'll be staying. Any recommendations between the two from any golfers out there?

We just got back from 7 days in SW Ireland and Doonbeg was our LEAST favorite course. Play Ballybunion old or Tralee....BOTH were wonderful. Doonbeg is silly golf......

Never played the Dromoland Course, but the course at the similar luxury Ashford Castle was nothing to write home about.

Ballybunion is basically already sold out to the public for 2004. You will have some success through golf trip companies, but we secured our tee time by working directly via e-mail with a BnB in the area.

You have to pre-pay for the golf, however, and for a foursome at Ballybunion it adds up to over $600!

My husband and I and another couple had an amazing golf trip to Ireland last September. My husband and his friend liked Doonbeg very much. It is spectacular scenery, the dunes are even more dramatic than Ballybunion.
We stayed at Dromoland Castle and the course didn't like like anything. We didn't bother to play it.
I played Lahinch and Tralee (as well as the two at Ballybunion). All spectacular.
Tell him not to stay home. (at Dromoland). It is a park like setting, okay if you just want the ease of playing where you are, but nothing compared to the others. enjoy
