I don't know the answer to your question, but did you know tht once upon a time there were canine butchers in France? See:

No Faina, I try not to think about people eating horses, or dogs and cats also.
I do not eat red meat, but that has nothing to do with it..it still makes me sad to see a horse lying on the ground, while a man gets ready to cut its throat.

I agree with Scarlett, we each have our prejudices when it comes to food, and mine is that I don't want to eat any domesticated animal, especially one that could be my friend.

There's a pretty wide spectrum of choices and preferences, between strict vegetarian and complete carnivore.

The Belgians eat horse meat. Especially smoked and thinly sliced on bread. A bit like bresaola really.
My daughter would kill me if I bought it though.
Sorry Synada, no help here. I've never heard of bakeries that sell dog biscuits in The Netherlands. You are more likely to find that in France.

I've never heard of it in Switzerland either.
What kind of dog do you have? At the beg. of this month, three pitbulls got loose from an apartment and attacked and killed a kindergarten student walking to school in Zürich. Legislation is now finally pushing through new laws for owners who have potentially dangerous dogs.

There's a dedicated horse meat butcher near the Rialto in Venice. Although I've never had the opportunity to try horsemeat, I don't see any difference between eating horses & eating cows.
I've never heard of or seen a dog bakery anywhere : just seen packeted treats in pet shops.
