Does anyone know what happened to Via Giulia?

We were walking down Via Giulia on our recent trip to Rome and were distressed to see that the beautiful vines hanging from above, which were always a landmark, are no longer there. Does anyone know what happened to them?

I don't know, but I can imagine that they might have been removed if there was evidence that they were harming/destabilizing the structure.

Those vines are always very picturesque, but, as Zerlina said, thy may attack the structure. Also such vines attract birds and vermin that might also harm the structure. It may be that the vines were removed for maintenance of the wall and may be allowed to grow back.

It also depends on the season.
I believe these are what we call Virginia Creepers, a deciduous vine that has beautiful fall colors, then goes dormant until spring.

I have photographs of them in gorgeous reds, vibrant greens and dismal barreness.

BTW, the apartment we rent is almost at the corner of Via Giulia and Via dei Farnesi.
The topic title had me worried for a minute!
