To answer your question about whether the Albergo Cesari tried to get us alternative reservations: Yes, they did. I chose not to accept the alternate hotel because it was on the Via Veneto - not a place I want to be in Rome.
We are a difficult group to place though because we are a family of 10 and we need two quadruple rooms per night plus one double room.
