Here's a review of the Sigma 10-20. It has a kind of strange barreling effect at 10mm, but only at the far edges of the image.
But maybe lexi is actually talking about the natural distortion of such a lens, not the barrel. That's normal for a ultra-wide lens. For example, look at this picture in I took in Macau at 10mm with my Canon XTi/10-22:

Look how trapezoidal the Cathedral look? Or that white minivan on the left? That's the nature of a lens like this when you shoot an object at an angle. The effect is even more pronounced if you're pointing the camera up or down. Like this one, also in Macau. It can create very interesting picture, and I love it!
