Do we need a car in Avignon? Beach by bus?

"His policy is never to research in advance"
Wow. Guaranteed to miss 1,000 experiences.
Why?
Wow. Guaranteed to miss 1,000 experiences.
Why?
- if you plan to go to site A, and don't research, you never learn that site L is 5 miles further
- if you plan to go to site D because of its famous X, and don't research, you never realize that YY is just around the corner from X
- if you plan to go to site M, and don't research, you are subject to the quality of the signage. If there is none, all you experience is the visual, and learn none of the background of M. Sort of purposely watch one black & white slide out of a deck, rather than a color video with sound.

Hi, mominavignon, welcome to Fodors. We don't generally top out an old thread (old means more than a week old) for a bunch of reasons, basically the interested parties have moved on, especially the OP, but also because some of the authors may have died.

Hi, mominav. Thank you. Still alive. Yes, it was a wonderful trip and you've given me a reason to reminisce. We loved Avignon, did just fine without a car.
Tomboy, I think it works out well for us. I enjoy researching, then Bob gets to be astonished on arrival. The Arenes de Nîmes, for instance, blew him away. One place he does research: Yellowstone. Since spring he's been watching YouTubes by a guy who goes on hikes and shows you how close he gets to bears and whatnot.

Make sure it's not the guy (Garland) who has gotten arrested for breaking Yellowstone's rules. He's along the par of the "secrets of Hawaii" book. That's not the right title of the book, but that guy promoted crossing private land to get to "secret" beaches.
