Do the directions for my Venice hotel La Forcola make sense?
http://www.laforcolahotel.com/en/location.htm
I have looked at the map and the instructions and they puzzle me. The instructions say the hotel overlooks Strada Nuova, but the hotel looks to be at least a little distance away on the map.
And the turn right, turn left, etc. make me worried that I'll ever find it!
I plan to get off at the San Marcuola vaporetto stop, so I'm following the instructions from that point. (Before that I'm landing at Marco Polo, and then taking the bus to Piazzale Roma.)
Anyone have some practical advice? I'll be there in just a few days.

I have stayed at La Forcola in 2002 and it is not even 1 minute walk from San marcuola ferry stop. I agree with you, just get off at San Marcuola, take a little lane that goes on the right of the church which is there and you will find yourself in Strada Nuova. La Forcola is on your left, in front of you, on Strada Nuova near a little bridge and a shop selling masks. In front of the hotel there is a little shop selling fruit.

Hi will,
If you click on their little map it will become a big map.
Also if you look up Campiello della Colombina at www.mappy.com you will get a clearer picture.
At this point the "Strada Nuovo" is the Rio Terra de la Madalena.

It is really easy to reach that hotel. Get off in San Marcuola and you'll find yourself in the little square in front of the church called CAMPO SAN MARCUOLA. There is this lane in front of you, take it, then you must turn right and you'll find yourself in front of the Vendramin Casino (former house of Wagner). The lane then turns on the left and it ends up in Strada Nuova. I had the same puzzlement when I arrived in San Marcuola, I had a map downloaded from the net but then I realized that it was really and SO close, a minute's walk, ok maybe two.
The facade of the hotel is not impressive, but inside, the hotel is nice. I had a room overlooking strada Nuova, right on the corner, so I would see people walking until late at night and in the morning I would hear the locals starting their motorboats, so if you are looking for a quiet room maybe you should ask for a room in the back which does not overlook the road.
The staff is nice and the breakfast is good, buffet breakfast, you have lots of choices and you can take as much as you like. There is a safe and a tv in the room, not many channels but it is ok, I was so tired every end of the day that I would watch just the news and go to sleep.
