Do I need to buy bus/train tickets in advance (Granada-Cordoba-Seville)

It looks like bus has best times from Granada to Cordoba and train has best times Cordoba to Seville. We will traveling in mid-March (Granada-Cordoba on a mon. and Cordoba-Seville on a Wed.) Do I need to buy in advance or could I buy the day before, will most likely want to leave mid morning (after 10am-early afternoon 1pm). I don't like putting off things until the last minute but on the other hand, we want some flexibility. Was considering renting a car to have maximum flexibility, but seems more of a hassle with parking, etc.

Bus is definately more frequent than train from Granada to Cordoba as there are only 2 trains a day. They both take the same amount of time so you could choose either.

Definately take the train from Cordoba to Sevilla as it is much faster than the bus and quite an experience.

If you don't purchase in advance you risk the chance the train will be sold out. The Granada to Cordoba train actually goes through to Madrid. So alot of students on the weekends in particular are usiing the train to get home/return to school. The Cordoba to Sevilla train is more frequent so you could probably just buy at the station but may have to wait for the next available train. If you buy a day or 2 in advance you should probably be OK. That said, there are big price advantages to purchasing in advance - renfe offers large discounts. I just randomly checked March 15 and the morning train from Granada to Cordoba is 21.3 vs the normal 35.4 per ticket. For Cordoba to Sevilla there are tickets as low as 10 euros versus the normal 33.2 euro fare. These fares will go quickly (they open up approx 62 days before travel so they've just started offering them). So, the tradeoff on flexibility is cost.

"Seats on tourist class trains are like boards"

I am confused about the statement by qwovadis. I've taken dozens of tourist class trains in the last 10 years and they are not uncoomfortable. Perhaps during the days of Franco.....but not in these times.

The train from Granda to Madrid is not a regional train. All but a handful of the trains from Cordoba to Sevilla are long distance trains.
