I am back from my solo London trip... OMG, the Dior exhibit is just phenomenal. Each one of his and his successors’ dresses is a piece of art - I loved them all and took plenty of pictures.Highly recommend reading his autobiography before visiting; it really helps to understand how his gorgeous dresses were designed and put together. The exhibit catalogues were readily available at the gift shop and of course I bought one for memories... it did add weight to my luggage but it was soooo worth it.

i also visited the Mary Quant exhibit on the same day (the tickets were available at the box office) and enjoyed it very much.

This exhibit was spectacular! The final room was just fantasy land for me. I bought the exhibit book as well. I had to have it!

Oh yes! My Mom is 86 and still looks like a movie star. The first thing she asked when I landed home was about the Dior exhibit catalog. 😊

I just saw that the Dallas Museum of Art also has a Dior show that opened Sunday (May 19). How can this be?

Do not know about Dallas, but Denver Art Museum had its Dior exhibit earlier this year (Jan to Mar)

Easy -- there are many thousands of Dior designs out there. The V&A is THE mega, omnibus show. Others will be terrific too.

Okay. We missed it in London last week, since it was already sold out. I'll bet the Denver show has moved to Denver... I was overwhelmed at the V & A. We never found the London Walks guide and ended up trying to navigate on our own. However, the Victorian tea was wonderful- the room, the service, etc. Lovely!

I was at V&A on April 22nd with tickets to the Dior exhibit, which was completely sold out of course. But at the Museum ticket office I have been told that they have a certain number of tickets every day for the Dior exhibit and there is a “live” line for them - first come, first served. I have no idea how long this line is and how early people come to join it.

>> I have no idea how long this line is and how early people come to join it..<<

Well before the 10AM opening time of the Museum. And you'd have to walk to the main entrance by road rather than via the tube tunnel because it doesn't open until the museum does. I'd plan on being outside the Cromwell road entrance by 8:30 at the latest. And earlier may be necessary now because the word of mouth has been so huge.

>>We never found the London Walks guide and ended up trying to navigate on our own<<

That's unfortunate. Usually it is easy - especially at the South Kens station since you meet up inside the ticket hall..

Will be in London August 6-12. We hope to go to V/A and stand in queue to get tickets to Dior. Luckily, we are staying in Mayfair. We can take Green Park tube to South Kensington. If we can't get in on one day, will try another.

Yesterday I watched the documentary “Dior and I” about Raf Simons and his fabulous first collection as a creative director of Dior. It was also such a moving tribute to Christian Dior... Available on Amazon Prime.

And the dresses from the Raf Simons’s collection are on display at the Dior Exhibit.

Be sure to walk from the tube station to the V&A via Thurloe Place/Exhibition Road and don't take the tunnel. You need to be waiting in the queue before the tunnel exit is open.

Yes, thank you. I already knew that.

I don't like the tunnel entrance anyway. I like to walk through the bookshop.

I do want to buy the Christian Dior book. It is 30 quid. Even if we don't get tickets (I think we will though), I want that book.

Think positive thoughts, sweetie darling

Good luck Thin-definitely sending positive vibes your way. There was quite a line when we arrived at the V and A (Cromwell Rd) at 9:30am (ish) when we had our tickets for Dior. I would say at least 100-150 people in line waiting. But do get the book one way or the other. It's lovely!

I had read that Princess Margaret's wedding dress would be at this exhibit, but that's not true. Instead, the dress Dior made for her 21st birthday and famously photographed by Cecil Beaton was displayed. There was quite a bit of yellowing to the silk organza over the years, but the striking embroidery had been restored and was quite different and "modern". I was lucky to get in early and was alone (briefly) in some of the rooms in the newish Gallery, a stunning space. Bought a houndstooth check makeup bag and pink pencils inscribed Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams. The grey pencils from the Paris show say Paris, c'est la couture, la couture c'est Paris - Christian Dior.

For those hoping to score tickets, follow the V and A on Instagram—they posted today that they have tickets for tomorrow.

And, they have released a few more tickets for other days. I just bought a ticket for the morning of July 20th.
So excited!
