Dior Exhibition at the V&A: Photos
Hello all:
I attended the exhibition yesterday. Stunning :) Here are some photos: https://qq0u.app.link/e/IDiN1wr8oU Regards Ger |
Thanks for sharing those.

Beautiful |
My friend and I saw the exhibit in Paris in the fall of 2017. It was just a gorgeous exhibit. I think the man was a genius.
|
Gorgeous!

OMG! Becky! Chuffed to bits that you posted these photos!
How I long to see Princess Margaret's ballgown, but I will never make it to London for this show as I was just at the V/A in September. I can imagine that some of the guests attending the show were dressed to impress. I am sure some of the Tatler crowd was in attendance. Thanks again for the lovely photos. Thin |
Thanks for sharing your photos. I went to Dior: From Paris to the World at the Denver Art Museum last month and while it was a good exhibit, I was a bit disappointed with the layout. I want to go to the V&A. It looks so beautiful!
|
Beautiful Ger, thanks for sharing. I am going to see this exhibit in May while I'm in London.
|
Thank You so much. I really enjoyed looking at the pictures. So beautiful, I can't imagine how one would feel wearing them.
I went to the V&A for the first time last year, it is such a magnificent place. For those going, be sure to have afternoon tea there. |

My Malbec and scone in the William Morris room of the V/A. That scone with clotted cream was the bomb. Thin |
Thin, did you visit the YSL museum in Paris when you were there? Just marvellous!
|
Malbec and a scone - I love it!
|
No, I have never been to the YSL museum in Paris, but I did meet him in New York about 23 years ago. I was working for Todd Oldham at the time. There was a party for him somewhere, maybe at the Four Season. I am almost positive Quentin Crisp was there and tried to get free clothes from him.

I have my tickets to this exhibit in April and I cannot wait. Extra bonus: Queen Victoria's diamond and sapphire coronet goes on display at the V&A the day before our Dior tickets! Lucky me.
https://www.vam.ac.uk/blog/museum-li...rom-april-2019 I did go to YSL in Paris last year and we enjoyed it. Just wished there was more fashion on display! I then promptly read Loulou & Yves: The Untold Story of Loulou de la Falaise and the House of Saint Laurent afterwards. Super interesting. |
Thank you so much for sharing, Ger! I have my tickets booked for April 22nd - counting days. And thank you for the YSL Museum in Paris tip. I cannot believe I have not been there yet. |
The YSL museum has only been open since Oct 2017...not very long! I got lucky and was in Paris April 2018 (and smarting over missing the Dior exhibit in Paris), so the timing was right.
|
Oh, now I know why I have not been to the YSL Museum in Paris yet😊. It is very new indeed. Thank you very much, denisea! |
Mel, did you notice I have Malbec and a sidecar?
I wanted 9oz and the vendor did not have a large enough glass. Notice the people with me, my relatives from Windsor and North London, have beakers of tea. I don't drink tea after 9 am. Thin🍷 |
I was in heaven at the YSL exhibition!
Don't miss the Fashion & Textile museum in Bermondsey East London. Nearest station is London Bridge, and its about a 10 minutes walk. Combine it with a visit to Borough Market. I have yet to visit, although it is just a short trip from where I live, but definitely going within the next couple of months to see 'Swinging 60s' exhibition. I can recommend a couple of restaurants in the area if you wish. https://www.ftmlondon.org/ BTW, for those of you visiting the UK who love fashion history, there is a simply marvellous Fashion Museum in Bath, which I have visited. It is far superior and better organised than the V&A permanent exhibition. One of many reason to visit Bath. https://www.fashionmuseum.co.uk/ Regards .. Ger |
"Mel, did you notice I have Malbec and a sidecar?"
LOL! Man after my own heart! |
