For those going to the Dior, the V&A is also staging a Mary Quant exhibition starting in April and on display til next Feb

(I'm going to both but haven't yet set the dates for my next trip -- luckily I'm a member of the V&A so don't need to book - can just walk in)

My husband is very good about encouraging my shopping and also going to these fashion exhibits. I am afraid if I push Dior, the jewelry collections and Mary Quant in a single visit that it may be a bridge too far

There's more?

Your husband is an angel, denisea! I am doing all my fashion escapades only because my husband is staying home. Otherwise, it could be a good chance of divorce on the horizon😊.

Wow, just wow. Thanks so much for posting your photos.

Did anyone else notice the tiny waists?

Such beautiful clothes. Sigh.

Quick question: are there the exhibition catalogues or brochures on sale? I would love to bring home something memorable after my visit.

Thank you in advance!

These big exhibitions (like the Alexander McQueen , this Dior, etc) will have all sorts of merchandise. They usually have a very large hard cover book, sometimes a paperback version, plus other items like scarves, postcards, etc . . . Not sure what this show has since I haven't gone yet -- maybe OReilly or someone else will report back.

But not to worry -- the V&A always provides lots of retail therapy

Yesterday was my lucky day in NYC. My husband decided to rest after lunch and I had good two hours to spend in the Museum at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). Such a beautiful permanent collection and fabulous exhibit “Fabric in Fashion”. It was fascinating to see the evolution of fashion design utilizing new fabrics, like modal, and old favorites, wool, silk, cotton. And the dress I liked the most was Dior’s silk sleeveless yellow dress adorned with elegant yellow velvet pattern. Givenchy dresses were stunning too.

I am so disappointed. I am going in June with my granddaughter and did not realize we had to buy tickets in advance for this, silly me, and now of course it is sold out. It looks amazing. Thanks for sharing photos. Debbe.

Debbe, the tickets are sold out for June??? OMG! I am so grateful to the most helpful contributors on this thread who advised me to buy the tickets for April well on advance. THANK YOU!!!

I know it is not a good consolation prize, but I am reading Dior’s autobiography now and it is so interesting. Available on Amazon (kindle).

Just very quick- if you really REALLY want to attend the dior, join the V&A . It will cost a bit but you can just walk in to the exhibition without booking

To Debbe, it's not the same as the exhibition but I just found this Dior-inspired afternoon tea in London. Not cheap but it does look lovely (starts at 60 pounds each). Just a thought...

https://www.the-berkeley.co.uk/resta...afternoon-tea/

PRÊT-À-PORTEA: THE DIOR COUTURE COLLECTION

This season’s Prêt-à-Portea at The Berkeley, our legendary designer afternoon tea inspired by the world of fashion, sees the iconic designs of Christian Dior take to the cakewalk for an unprecedented solo show inspired by Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams at the V&A Museum.

The Dior Couture Collection transforms landmark pieces into exquisite biscuits, bakes and fancies. From the Junon Dress worn by Theo Graham at Le Pré Catalan in Paris 1949 to the Bar Jacket which has been synonymous with Dior since it took to the catwalk in 1947 as part of the ‘New Look,’ each piece this season takes inspiration from Dior’s fashion history.

Janis, thanks for the info. I looked at that and today I emailed the VandA They do release a few tickets on the 15th for the following month. With us being 8 hours behind it will be an early morning to call , and not sure if I can wait till May to get June anyhow. I really want to go so I think I may just get the membership as you suggest. I will probably go to the Mary Quant as well which costs 26 pounds for the two of us. Not sure how much the Dior costs, but the membership is 70 and will allow me to take my grand daughter cos she is 17. So it will probably work out to not much more anyhow.
So, thanks for that. I am looking forward to it.

. . . and you don't need to join in advance. You can join at the museum and they give you a temporary card. The permanent card, quarterly magazine, etc will come be mailed a few weeks later.
