Dinner Time?- Budapest, Vienna, Prague

I am in the process of planning evening activities for our Sept trip. What time do most people eat dinner in these cities?
I know most tourists are ready to eat around 6 but we are used to city life and rarely eat before 8:30. I wasn't sure what the local custom was and am having difficulty finding this info.
On nights we go to the opera or music, would it be best to eat before or after?

Hi! I did this trip back in 2000 and I couldn't remember the specifics, so I called in my family expert -- my grandmother! Her husband of 20 years was Hungarian and they traveled to these cities extensively. She just told me that dinner is customarily eaten around 7 or 8 pm. On nights they would go to the opera, they would eat something light beforehand and then have dinner afterwards. She said restaurants stay open much later there. Hopefully this helps with your planning!

Where are you staying in Budapest??
