No it is not common to say là-haut (up there). For a kid we would say "au dodo!" "au lit!". "Là-haut" is a strict order IMO. I could say that if I'm tired of my kids and want to send them in their rooms to have some peace when they are too noisy. But I understand your son didn't listen to his mother so it was a sign of impatience that's all.

Chere Coco: Je desirerai savoir de quelle maniere vous avez apris la langue de Shakespeare, car votre maitrise de l'Anglais est veritablement parfaite. Il est si rare de converser avec des francophones qui se debrouille si bien en Anglais!
Je pense que je commence, avec votre aide genereuse, a assimiler les rudiments du Francais.

Cheres mignons Coco and Georgie - merci pour la concerne mais tous ce sont bien avec moi - c'etait moi qui ecrit ca - mon Professuer Coco m'a fait me apprendre francais si bien que maintenant mon francaise est un "A" - contre le D+ avant. C'est extraordinaire - incroyable je sais but vrai!

Mr Toubon (?), le ministre qui tu t'ai parler pour son <franglais> campaign a raison je pense - il doit etre fin de la semaine, pas week-end, et sur le train pas <snack bar> mais buffet - le francaise doit etre pur!

Merci beaucoup pour le A+ tu vois que "quand on veut, on peut!" j'ai toujours aimé parler et écrire anglais et j'apprends beaucoup ici sur Fodors. Merci à tous! I didn't know you were an English teacher, we can swap language lessons then!
Mr Toubon failed with his law against Franglais (this law was ironically called "Allgood law" (loi Toubon).
He wanted to say "vacancelles" to replace "week end"
Today I wanted to try "les moulins bleus" restaurant with DH but it was crowded and we didn’t feel like eating crêpes and galettes(salted crêpes) so we headed for the market.
There are quite a few restaurants around the food hall and we didn’t know which one to choose. Le Bistrot des halles has a good reputation (its chef is Jean Pierre Billoux who runs « le Pré aux Clercs » a very expensive restaurant in front of the ducal palace. But it was too traditional for us so I took my hubbie to le « Spice » a rather modern restaurant with good world cuisine. He had a thaï beef carpaccio (starter) and a red tuna fish with minced vegetables and I had the duck (magret) with fruit and minced veg as well. And an apple crumble with macadamia nut ice cream. If you ever want to taste something not typically Burgundian, try this one. (12 rue Odebert).

I wrote almost perfect because there are a few mistakes :-B :
"Je desirerai" with a "S" at the end like in "j'aimerais" (in english you say I would like not I will like)
"Apris" takes 2 "P" (apprendre)
" des francophones qui se debrouille si bien" se débrouilleNT (plural). See? ;-)
And I didn't mention the accents because of the English keyboard...

Anyway he's planning to write something in French with young person's language that 'you will hardly understand' - don't know about that since he's been away from France for four years now - though has gone back few times. On y voyons!
