Differant & often bizarre Hotel booking sites?
Trying to finalize my Nice plans, and having a great deal of trouble about getting factual info from Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity and Venere.IT. I really wanted an item I considered important, breakfast(or at least coffee) included, and maybe a guest laundromat. Some sites provide either incomplete or even wrong info. I invaribly have to contact the hotel directly, which is often hard to receive info, in a timely fashion. For example, in the Orbitz site a room at the Atlantic Hotel Boscolo says the rate of 128$ includes brkfst(Utell greatsavers). Then another site says nothing....finally e-mailing the hotel, says bkfst not included,,,though Orbitz clearly states it does. Has anyone had problems like this with varying hotel booking sites? It is driving me BATTY! Judy ;-/

No, I don't have such trouble as I won't book a hotel that doesn't have a web site that I can get info from, see photos, etc. I'd recommend that next time you search for the hotel's web site and see what it says. If it includes breakfast, their web site will invariably say so as they're trying to make a sale. In the case of the hotel you mentioned, it's web site says that breakfast is not included.

It seems in France (based on 4 trips all over the country) that breakfast is generally NOT included. That is not to say never, obviously B & Bs by definition do provide breakfast. We generally stay at country Inns, and 2 and 3* hotels. Breakfast in many cases is "available" but not included with the room price. And for that matter, all breakfasts are not equal! Some have large buffet breakfasts whereas others may only provide a roll and coffee. In many instances breakfast is better, or less expensive at a nearby cafe.

The best information (most reliable) comes off the lodgings own website. Travelocity, etc, may not always have upto date information. Sometimes even the actual facility website is not complete. Calling or faxing the hotel directly or emailing is the best way to confirm amenities.

Have yet to see a laundromat in the lodging facility. The tourist info center usually gave us laundry information. On the riviera, we stayed in Villefranche sur Mer and we used a laundromat about 3 blocks from the hotel (a 3*).

I don't book through those kind of web sites for hotels (orbitz, expedia, etc) and wouldn't trust them anyway for accuracy on details. I'm sure they have a disclaimer somewhere about how they are not responsible for erros in the info. I also would go to the hotel's web site for specifics. I've never heard of a hotel with a guest laundromat (I'm sure there may be some, but they aren't common, for sure).

Thanks all for your feedback. Most important thing I want is COFFEE(that I don't have to run down the block for it) I think the way to go is check on the hotel's own web site....if it doesn't have it there....then it's a no go. Laundomats for guests are mentioned a few time on the consolidator's web sites....but if they have it fine, if not, will do a pick up drop off at a laundomat. My biggest complaint of all is the INACCURACIES of the Orbitz and the ilk. Judy

Has anyone booked a hotel throught venere.it? I got a rate at the due torre baglioni hotel in Verona for 187 euro a night, double room, which is about half what all the other hotel web sites say. should I be suspicious of the rate?
