DFW to Rome Airfare?
What is a good price for tickets from DFW to Rome on October 16?
Tips are welcomed. We want to visit Rome, Tuscany area and maybe a bit of the north. We plan to drive around for 2 weeks.
Do we wanto to fly into Rome? What price should we pay?

Alba, I'd check rates on 'Sidestep', 'Orbitz', 'Priceline', etc., but if could find something in the $600.00-700.00 (coach) range, I'd venture that would be a good price. The fares tend to start coming down around then.
You'll likely find more flights and more favorable rates by flying in and out of Rome from Dallas. Best of luck.

Hi Albita,
I can tell you how we flew to Rome last March and perhaps that will help you.
As far as I know (AFIK) there are NO non-stop flights from DFW to Rome.
There wasn't in March, anyway!
We flew non-stop from DFW to CDG (Paris) leaving at 5:40 PM and AR at 9:45 A. Then we transfered on to Rome using AirFrance. AA ticketed us all the way through, so the bags were checked through to Roma.
We trained (eventually) up to Venice and flew Air France back to Paris, and eventually returned NON-STOP from CDG to DFW. The total cost was $802 pp.
I hope you can beat that price!
Happy travels,
Carol

Hi albita,
Look at www.travelhub.com and www.eltexpress.com
They have available flights for about $650 PLUS taxes and fees.

I just bought tickets last week for Portland OR to Paris via DFW for $687 from AutoEurope.com. They originally quoted me a price of $751, but when I told them I could get tickets for $713 from 2 consolidators, they not only met the price but beat it. I have been checking almost daily for several months and this is the best price I've found, so I took it. This is for 9/20-10/12/03. On American Airlines. So be sure to check with AutoEurope.

As American Airlines has drastically cut back on their schedule, you're no longer able to fly non-stop from DFW to FCO (Rome's Airport). Right now you can get an airfare for $818 by flying out on Oct-16th and back on Nov-1st; on the outbound leg you can choose to stop in Chicago (ORD) or go thru New York (JFK, which would be preferable over Chicago, IMO). Return flights appear to route thru Zurich.
