Destination Wedding

Hi. My fiance and I are entertaining the idea of a destination wedding and honeymoon in Italy-most likely Rome-October 2004. Does anyone have any experience with these "destination wedding" websites or just the weddings in general? Thanks.

My husband and I were married in Scotland in Sept. 2003.
I found the wedding consultant on the web.
When our planning got serious, I asked for references. We were given several, 5, I think, which checked out.
Another thing is that I asked several if there were any tips or heads up on anything that I might not think of.
When I first met our planner, I was impressed.
She had everything super organized and put my mind at rest.
My husband had to go over everything regarding his kilt hire, and she was the best.
Our wedding day was perfect, even the weather, which was such a relief, after all the planning.
Can't help you with Italy, but thought this might give you some info.
Any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Good Luck

Try this website:

http://www.weddingsinitaly.com/

You may also want to visit the talk boards at www.theknot.com - lots of brides will have advice for you there.

Happy planning!

I met a couple who got married at a civil service in the Palazzo Vechcio Florence.

Then had family and friends over for the party afterwards in a 15th Century villa in the hills beyond Fiesole.

What a fantastic way to get married!

Sorry I can't be of any help, but they arranged it all over the internet, and had enjoyed the entire experience.

Good Luck !!

We are from UK and got married in Amalfi on Neapolitan Riviera - it was amazing and very simple to organise.

If you would like any info feel free to mail me on [email protected]

Is there a "weddings" forum that is even vaguely as good as this one is for travel?

My wife and I are happy that we will be claiming those coveted titles of mother-in-law and father-in-law sometime in the upcoming year (date not set, ring is on hand).

Hopefully it would have a section where I should concentrate, called "How the father of the bride can behave himself and keep his mouth shut".

Wink... and...

Best wishes,

Rex

I am getting married in Positano, Italy in June. I would suggest that you get a wedding planner but do a lot of research before you decide on one. Some of their websites say that they are members of professional wedding planning organizations but then you contact the organization and are told that they are not a member at all. I had a difficult time finding a photographer. I didn't really like the one that my wedding planner uses and most of the photographers in the US wanted around $5000 to go to Italy to take pictures. I ended up finding a photographer on the web that is great, www.florencephotographer.com.
