Need some help here please.<BR>I rang Delta in the U.K. to exchange some expiring Skymiles which my daughters had for certificates. They each had enough for a round trip in the U.S. or Europe or return upgrade on a transatlantic flight.<BR>Delta sent certificates which could be used for a round trip in the U.S. only.<BR>We are unlikely to be travelling to the U.S. within the validity of these certificates and had I known that a specific destination certificate was going to be issued I would have requested the European one.<BR>When I got in touch with Delta they told me I should have asked for a specific European ticket and as I didn't then being an American firm they presumed I wanted U.S. flights.This is despite the fact that I was ringing a U.K. phone no. from a U.K. no.Arrogant eh?<BR>I pointed out that nowhere on the website does it say that I have to be aware (how?)that there are three optional certificates but they are not having it .I also told them that if they are going to restrict the programme in their favour they they are under an obligation to make this clear in their terms and conditions.<BR>Anyone come across this before and any ideas?<BR>With thanks

My wife has been using Delta Skymiles for several years. I don't know exactly what the problem is but you say that... despite the fact that I was ringing a U.K. phone no. from a U.K. no.Arrogant eh?<BR><BR>How do you think they know where you are calling from and what difference would that make if they knew? Who is Arrogant?

Delta has the worst FF mile program in the world- they have such limited amounts of FF seat on their planes and you have to book nearly a year ahead of time to go from the US to Europe- that I try NOT to use them.....<BR><BR>That being said, I would Call back, ask to speak to a supervisor, het that person's name and explain the problem....<BR>Once you get by the &quot;little people&quot; at Delta and get into the supervisor positions , you have more chance of someone wanting to help you.....<BR><BR>Just keep a good record of names,dates and all that has transpired as a letter to DELTA may be in the making....<BR><BR>Good luck--and yes, Delta can be quite arrogant when you are requesting ff points to use for travel...but seriously also, there is no way that an incoming call from the UK will reach a UK person-you probably got an American in Atlanta or Cinncinnati...

I wouldn't take the advice of the first person with whom you spoke . I would continue to call, and ask them what they can do for you, until you get somewhere; very firmly, politely, but persistently, until someone sends you to someone with the authority to do something.

i have excellent luck with the delta ff program...always able to go when i want...i usually use air france for europe and that may help..<BR><BR>once i had a problem with delta while travelling in mexico and when home i wrote the ceo...he answered promptly with a surprise....he gave both myself and my wife 40,000 miles and an apology, plus a voucher for a trip....<BR>that was the best 34 cents i ever spent...

I've had good luck with Delta's frequent flyer program. Last fall we got two ff tickets from Baton Rouge through Atlanta to Rome only three weeks before our trip, and the agent that we talked to could not have been nicer and more cooperative.

Thank you all for responding.<BR>I had already followed up with a letter which led to Delta requesting the award certificates back but they only returned them immediately saying they could not be changed.<BR>You've made me think I shouldn't give up.<BR>rhkkmk-I have already used Delta Skymiles on Airfrance and found good availability-maybe not many people try and use them within Europe.<BR>Shall also try the frquent flyer site and in the event I have any joy ,I'll report back.<BR>With thanks once again<BR>P.S.Andy-if you think Delta is bad have you tried dealing with B.A. Executive Club!
