Day trips from Athens help
We are planning to take a day off from Athens and go on a day trip (mid May). This would be immediately after our island stays in Mykonos and Santorini. Does anybody have any good suggestions? The ones offered by most travel agents are: Mycenae, Delphi, Cruise to Aegina etc. Meteora is an overnight trip which we're hoping not to take simply because we already have hotel bookings in Athens. Any recommendations from anyone who's been there and done them all?
Thanks much.

Since you're already done Mykonos and Santorini, I wouldn't care for another cruise to Aegina/Hydra/Poros. I've been to Delphi, which is wonderful, and I've heard about the same thing about Mycennae. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

It would be a shame to miss Delphi and Meteora. I thought Aegina was a great island. Have a taxi driver take you to the ruins at the top of the mountain. Just beautiful and you will probably have them to yourself. It was such a delightful departure from Athens where the taxi drivers were trying to take us for everything we had. This guy drove us up, waited, and then took us to an interesting church ont he way back down. All for about $10. After he came looking for me because I had carelessly left my camera in the cab.
We had fun with Costas at one of those little seaside trattorias. he gave us the total lowdown on barbequed octopus and his "Costas' Own" BBQ sauce.
